The success of an agency hinges largely on strong client relationships. At Sweetcode Lab, we always aim to become a trusted partner of our clients. Without clients—especially those who return to hire us again and again— our agency would be non-existent.
But sure, it took us some time to find elements of a successful client-agency relationship and start using them in our work routines.
Remember that every client also wants a strong agency partnership.
We emphasized five elements needed for a successful client-agency relationship:
1. Share your knowledge
If we talk about the IT industry, clients often don’t understand the area of expertise. As a result, they can be confused and sometimes even scared because they do not understand the process of working on their project and therefore are disconnected from the development.
And here, they need your support. This is your opportunity to share information that will help the client understand what you do, which will build trust and confidence in the process. Explaining to your client what you did, why you did it, how to view the result, and leave the edits. It will help them feel knowledgeable.
2. Regular communication
Remember, timely, efficient communication should be a priority.
Put yourself in the shoes of your client, you pay money, and you want to know what’s going on, right? Nothing makes a client uneasy more than not hearing from the agency.
So, keep clients in the loop with the status of their projects. You can make regular calls or meetings to involve them in the process, so they have the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback. Also, such meetings should include project updates and time to walk through any pain points or questions that need to be addressed.
3.Treat every client as your most important one
Always provide all clients with your best service, regardless of whether they are a big or small business. It doesn’t matter if you create a mobile application or a logo. Your services should always be of high quality. Lastly, it is essential to remember that today’s small business could be big tomorrow. It’s fulfilling to be a trusted partner who keeps that growth, isn’t it?
4.Understanding of client’s business
Before you can help clients with their projects, you have to know how their industry works. The more you learn, the more you increase your ability to build successful client relationships.
Part of getting to know your client is also about learning to speak their language. It also means feeling out what the best form of communication is. Do they prefer chatting by email, by phone, or in-person? Do they tend to write longer messages or keep things short?
5.Always summarize the next steps
Client approvals are a massive part of the client-agency partnership.
It is a fallacy to think that you’ll remember all of the details. And even if you will, your client may not. So you need to be on the same page with the next steps to prevent a lot of confusion down the road.
To sum up, clients are people first and foremost. When you treat them as people—and not just as vehicles to achieve your goals or make money—you instantly make yourself stand out from the competitors.
These things will help you improve your client relationships and create a strong foundation that will help you grow your business to new levels.
And now, it’s our pleasure to present our project managers team, who have shared their experiences and tips in this article.
